Creation & Thanksgiving

I Chronicles 16:8-26
8 Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. 9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works. 10 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. 11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually. 12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his -- 14 He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth. -- 23 Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation. 24 Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations. 25 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 26 For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
After King David had failed to transport the Ark of God correctly and a man died (2 Sam. 6:3), he later was able to retrieve it without incident. This was cause for celebration, and David appointed Levites certain duties while he himself presented a song of praise to the "music director," Asaph. This is recorded in 1 Chronicles 16 which contains his psalm which begins with giving thanks "unto the LORD." Recently, we heard a timely message on Thanksgiving from this same passage. However, it was interesting that the preacher presented an entire message from these verses withOUT ONE reference to creation! Note that David began his song thanking the LORD, but later asserted exactly WHO this "LORD" is!
"For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens."
In other words, this God isn't the same as the "gods of the people." He isn't a figment of man's imagination, such as ancient Baal or Zeus, or more modern entities such as "American Idol" or the evolutionist/humanist who exalts himself above the idea of a Divine Creator (thereby essentially making himself a 'god'). These 'gods' lack one main credit: creating the universe. If you can do that, you're qualified for the "job" of God. Only the Creator can speak the entire universe into existence! It is beyond me exactly how this preacher gave an entire message from 1 Chronicles 16 and NOT reference the Creator! The world, as Pharaoh of Moses' day, is asking: "Who is the LORD that I should obey his voice...?", but WE aren't telling them WHO HE IS! They would rather accept and believe LIES from a pseudoscience called "evolution," than to bring their will in compliance with the design of the Creator...and WE who know the TRUTH let them go on their way. Their hiding from the truth is no more egregious an error than it is for those who KNOW the truth to AVOID preaching and teaching it! This Thanksgiving Day, let us resolve to let someone know the truth that "all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens."
